As a new networking method,wireless mesh network is a hot research topic.Wireless mesh network has the advantages of multi-hop,self-healing,stable performance,and can reduce the interference of obstacles and expand the range of signal transmission through multi-hop transmission.In wireless mesh network,routing protocol is a key factor that affects the network performance.Therefore,the main research content of this paper is to design,improve and verify the wireless mesh network routing protocol.The basic structure and characteristics of wireless mesh network are firstly introduced.Then,the classical routing protocols used in wireless mesh network are analyzed in detail.In wireless mesh networks,routing protocols are mainly divided into three categories: active routing protocol,passive routing protocol and hybrid routing protocol.Among them,DSR is a typical passive routing protocol and a typical source routing protocol.The source routing protocol depends on the source node for route discovery and maintenance.The advantage of centralized computing is that it reduces the amount of computation.The disadvantage is that it takes the minimum number of hops as the routing criterion.It uses single path transmission without energy state management and not considering the overall performance of the network.Based on the DSR protocol,by introducing a load balancing mechanism that integrates node load rate,delay and hop number,and adding energy state management and multi-path routing cache,an improved source routing protocol ICMSR(Improved Comprehensive Multi-path Routing)is proposed,which can better achieve network load balancing,save network energy and improve network performance.The simulation results show that the ICMSR in this paper has a better improvement in network lifetime,packet delivery rate,end-to-end delay and network throughput than the traditional DSR and other protocols.Then,a mesh network hardware prototype verification platform is designed to verify the source routing protocol in practical work.The platform consists of software and hardware.The software part mainly includes the configuration of the RF chip and the program design of the network layer.The hardware part mainly includes the communication module and the power supply backplane.Finally,several test experiments have been carried out on the mesh network hardware prototype verification platform.The test results show that the mesh network hardware platform and the source routing protocol designed in this paper have good performance in practical work.
