Wireless Mesh Networks (Wireless Mesh Network) is a kind of new wireless access network technology. It has self-configuring, self-healing, high bandwidth and broad compatibility and so on.The routing protocol is one of the key technologies in Wireless Mesh Networks Its implementation process directly affects the performance and efficiency of the entire network. Therefore, routing protocol is always a hot issue in the research of Wireless Mesh Networks. The traditional routing protocols are based on single path. Compared with the single path, multi-path routing protocols have great advantages in balance network load and improving the stability of network transmission. With the emergence of multimedia services, users demand for quality of service is increasingly growing. In the Wireless Mesh Networks, multi -path routing can support QoS, so this paper makes a detailed analysis and research on multi-path routing protocols for Wireless Mesh Networks.Firstly, the paper describes some basic techniques of Wireless Mesh Networks in detail. Compared with other wireless networks, then the paper discusses the unique structure and characteristic of Wireless Mesh Networks. This paper also analyzes the traditional routing protocols, Chapter Three discusses multi-path routing protocols and the QoS routing. Then the paper proposes a multi-path routing protocol of Wireless Mesh Network for support QoS that is based on the analysis of the traditional routing protocols and the multi-path routing protocols. The protocol takes into account the factors of delay and bandwidth in the multi-path routing mechanism. The aim of protocol is to discover the path of support QoS among some node-disjoint paths. Thus it will be better to provide the QoS support. The protocol is tested in NS-2 simulation environment. The simulation results show that the protocol not only reduces data transmission delay and routing load but also promotes the packet delivery rate.At last, considering the node-disjoint routing strategy has some limitations in the network throughput and network resource utilization, so we propose a routing strategy based on path-split mechanism. Simulated results indicate the routing strategy can effectively improve the network throughput and reduce data transmission delays. But the routing overhead increases a little.
