Benefited from the advancement of internet technology and because of its unique combination of education and mobility,online learning has shown its advantage and earned wide recognition and endorsement.This thesis is a response to the strategic goal of lifelong learning and education.Based on the rapid development of mobile education platforms and present age's increasing demand for individual growth,this thesis selects the language learning app product as the target of the investigation.It aims to provide new ideas and perspectives about designing language learning apps to achieve excellent user experience.This thesis firstly gives definition to the area,mobile learning applications,which the author plans to investigate,and captures its characteristics by comparing it horizontally with apps with similar learning functions.Through analysing research materials,it looks into the existing developed theories,definitions and evaluation models of user experience.It defines and distinguishes the unique aspects of language learning apps and its relationship with user experience design research.Secondly,based on the idea human-oriented design method,this thesis conducts an in-depth quantitative and qualitative user research on language learning users.By building user portraits and summing up learners' behavioural and psychological characteristics,this thesis summarises and studies the various elements that influence the experience of using a language learning app,which helps to accurately grasp the experiential needs of this particular group of product users.Four selection methods,including questionnaire,interview,observation and satisfaction evaluation,are used to pick the three existing apps as the products for further analysis.Furthermore,by studying these three selected apps,this thesis researches on the ways users interact with the product in the learning process.With these collected data relating to such experience,it summarises the advantages and limitations of the designs of some of the widely popular language learning apps available in the market.Last but not least,based on the above examination that focuses on the users' demand and behavioural patterns,this thesis analyses the following three main areas of user experience: sensory experience,interactive experience and emotional experience.Through that,it explains the use and the importance of design strategies and innovative exploration in creating a useful language learning app,as well to combine these findings with existing user experience discourse.The language learning apps enhances the way people interact with Internet product and open up new ways of designing such experience.This paper aims to provide effective methods and directions for individuals and collectives that are to develop language learning apps and create customer registration,to improve User Stickiness and amplify product competitiveness.
