High level academic journals tend to have strict review procedures and processes, the high level journal papers were also more likely to get a reference,it also makes the priority in the academic competition process, scholars are more willing to put their own research first appears in the high level of academic journals. The high level of academic journals, often means that the results of the study are widely recognized by the academic community of scholars. Therefore,in practice, scholars will have certain advantages in various projects, award evaluation and title promotion after publishing papers in high-level journals. However,if this evaluation system is alienated,it will become a "Si Wei" unhealthy trend, which does not focus on contribution or influence, hurts real academic research and academic researchers, and affects the foundation of China's scientific and technological development. The fundamental problem is that it is unable to accurately identify scholars who are truly academically competent.Based on this, this paper focuses on the research question: whether there is a significant change in academic ability after the first publication of a high-level academic journal paper.Taking the field of management as an example,at first, collected the papers published by Chinese scholars in the list of top journals recognized by the international community, and carried out descriptive statistical analysis, including the basic situation of publication, the characteristics analysis of authors, the analysis of international co-authorship and the change analysis of leading position. So as to form a basic understanding of the publication of Chinese scholars in international top journals. Then,on the basis of the analysis of the possible influence of high-level journals on academic ability of scholars,we determined the ways and methods to measure academic ability of scholars by referring to relevant studies.Publication quantity, journal influence factor and paper citation frequency are taken as three variables to measure academic ability of scholars. The paired t-test was used to infer whether there was a statistical difference in academic ability of the same sample before and after high-level publication. In order to get more abundant conclusions and ensure the robustness of the conclusions, the sub-samples were tested repeatedly. The empirical results show that the number of papers published by scholars and the average impact factor of journals are different from that before.Specifically, there is marginal difference(slight difference)in the number of papers, and the influence factor of journals is significantly increased, but the average citation frequency of published papers does not change significantly.Considering that the journal impact factor is easily affected by outliers, the average cited frequency can better reflect the academic ability of scholars. Therefore,in the field of management, there is no significant difference in the academic ability of mainland Chinese scholars after the publication of high-level academic journals. However, when the corresponding author and the first author were taken as samples, the academic ability was significantly different than before.Based on the empirical results, the paper puts forward the corresponding management enlightenment.
