In today's complex environment of information dissemination, the authenticity of online news is difficult to distinguish, especially for middle-aged and elderly people in small towns. Can we design content, formulate plans, and conduct training to improve their recognition ability? This is a problem that this article thinks about and tries to solve. Therefore, the study uses action research to first conduct a questionnaire survey on 307 middle-aged and older people over the age of 50 to find out their problems in identifying the authenticity of online news. The results show that they are overly dependent on the original cognitive structure and traditional media to confirm the authenticity of online news, and there are single recognition methods and negative attitudes.Next, the author selects 12 representative middle-aged and elderly Internet users, divides them into an experimental group and a control group, and trains the experimental group according to the designed materials and schemes. The content mainly includes the distinction between news and information, the real world and the media world;Recognize the types of fake news;master methods of identifying fake news.Comparing the answer test results before and after the training,it was found that the ability of the experimental group to identify the authenticity of online news has been significantly improved.
