publication of reading.In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s,the invention of laser phototypesetting technology enabled Chinese characters to be processed by computers,and the first electronic book in China was produced under the impetus of computer technology.Since the 1990 s,China's Internet and computer technologies have developed rapidly.Under the joint promotion of database vendors,libraries,platform vendors,and library distributors,the form of Chinese e-books has changed.The content is more abundant and the functions are constantly improved.Changed the reader's information acquisition methods and reading habits.However,the combing and summarizing of the history of the development of e-books in China is lacking in both the history of publishing and the history of digital resources.Based on the study of a large number of literatures,this paper links various stages of Chinese e-books with specific social backgrounds through extensive research and various research methods to explore their origins and developments,aiming at the source.At the beginning,combing its origin and formation process,showing its rich and wonderful development history.On the one hand,the thesis expounds the meaning,types and related concepts of e-books,helps to clarify what e-books are,and lays a solid foundation for in-depth research.On the other hand,starting from the main characters in the e-book industry chain in China,By investigating its production,distribution and use links,it is helpful to grasp the current status and future development trends of e-books,and to provide reference suggestions.The article comprehensively uses the research methods of literature analysis,network survey,interview,and case analysis to conduct research from both vertical and horizontal perspectives.From the vertical perspective,according to the characteristics of each stage of Chinese e-books and the combination of landmark events,it was confirmed that it was produced in 1991,and the development of this period from 1991 to 2018 was divided into four stages,namely the origin stage(1991).-1999),the rise phase(2000-2008),the prosperity phase(2009-2014)and the transition phase(2015-2018);in the horizontal direction,analyze the social background and the main roles of each stage,and summarize the e-books of different periods.Characteristics and development period.(3)User demand promotes the prosperity of e-books(2009-2014).Based on the official licensing of 3G in January 2009,it accelerated the popularity of smartphones,widened the scale of users,and changed the reading habits of readers.The range of users of e-books has gradually shifted from being a library-based user to an individual user,eventually forming a two-point situation.(4)During the transition period and challenge of the e-book industry(2015-2018),for the transformation stage of publishers and pavilions,in May 2015,Beijing Rentian Bookstore officially launched the “Imaginary Star” Pavilion with e-books nationwide.For the basis of division,the advent of the platform has filled the gap in the field of e-books,making the upstream publishers of the industry chain realize that this is an important business in the future,and began to launch e-book business.At the same time,e-commerce platform will expand its business.In the field of library allocation,the innovative service mode for libraries has also stimulated the competition of publishers and distributors.The third and fourth parts summarize the important driving forces and main problems in the development of e-books in China,and propose solutions,as well as the enlightenment in the process of sorting out its history and the prospects for the future trend of e-books in China.The current use rate of e-books is getting higher and higher,and it has become an indispensable part of the reader's study and life.The proportion of funds used by libraries to purchase e-books is getting heavier and heavier,and it
