With the rapid technology development of Internet of Things,its security issues have drawn much attention in recent years.Due to the limitations of its platform resources,the research direction of novel IoT security solution has shifted from the software level to the hardware level in recent years.Physical Unclonable Function(PUF)is a novel hardware security technology,which utilizes process variations in semiconductor fabrication to extract random parameter differences within the integrated circuit and generate unique response information.Because of the unclonable feature,PUF technology has been widespread concern by researchers once it proposed.In addition,PUF also has the characteristics of low power and low resource consumption,and has broad application prospects in the field of identification,authentication and other security.There are four main research directions of PUF technology,such as new structure,response error correction,security and application.This paper focuses on the reconfigurable circuit structure of physical unclonable technology,which belongs to a branch of PUF new structure research.The article introduces the basic principle and traditional structure of PUF at first,and presents the reconfigurable solution by analyzing the deficiency of classical PUF structure.Next,we reconcile and classify several existing reconfigurable PUF structures and propose two XOR-based reconfigurable PUF circuits: XOR-based reconfigurable bistable ring PUF circuit(XRBR-PUF)and XOR based Reconfigurable Ring Oscillator PUF(XRRO-PUF).The principle and characteristic of the two new structures are analyzed emphatically,and the feasibility of XRBR-PUF and XRRO-PUF is proved both theoretically and practically.Finally,we implemented XRBR-PUF and XRRO-PUF on Xilinx FPGAs and designed the MATLAB test software to meamure the property of both architectures,which can automatically collect the response and plot the performance curve.The paper presents the test results and the comparison with several PUF circuit,showing a good uniqueness and reliability.In addition,the two structures proposed in this paper have good characteristics in unit response cost.Compared to the traditional architecture,XRRO-PUF reduces the hardware resources consumed by generating 1-bit response per 1 / 64 th of the time,indicating that XRRO-PUF is a low-cost design with high security.
