3D printing(additive manufacturing)is known as a manufacturing technology which can transform the world.After the maturity of the technology and development of market,this technology play an increasing important role in precision manufacturing,medical assistance and education.3D printing,as a general term of additive manufacturing,has a lot of technique.among these technique,because FDM(Fused Deposition Modeling,FDM)has the feature of simple process,safe operation,low cost,non-pollution,it has always been the most suitable technology for desktop class client.As this technology applications continue to be widen currently,we put updated requirements on its performance.For example,the molding speed is obviously slow and the accuracy of the model is very low when printing a rotating model using FDM technique based on Cartesian coordinate system.Besides,the most popular softwares used by this technology is foreign open source software,and it's not enough to understand the underlying algorithm of model slicing,and there is also the issue of property rights.These problems have become the bottleneck restricting the future development of domestic FDM technique.Therefore,this paper brought new idea of cylindrical FDM printing system,including its equipment and model slicing software.In the beginning of this paper,FDM technique is investigated,from the technical principle of equipment,to the mechanical structure,to the control system,to the STL model handling algorithm.Through investigation,based on the FDM technology based on cylindrical coordinate system,the overall design scheme of FDM molding system based on cylindrical coordinate system is presented,including the mechanical structure,control system,model handling algorithm and GUI,then the implementation of this system were discussed in detail.Finally,the experimental results of this system are introduced.
