With the fast updating of mobile phone products,the traditional process for keyboard production by injection molding is no longer suitable for the new designs and low cost of the new generation of mobile phones.The traditional injection molding keys and silicon keypad or film keyboard(P+R keypad)are gradually replaced by the newly developed keyboards.P+R keypad are generally manufactured with thermoplastic materials,and hold a history of over decades of development and manufacturing.The plastic molding and rubber forming technologies have led to a well-developed industrial chain that includes production design,moulds design,molding,exterior processing,and assembling.However,thermoplastic keyboards usually are thick,and the appearance is limited by the design of the moulds which stopped it from meeting the updating needs from the customers.Other disadvantages of thermoplastic keyboards include complicated manufacturing methods,long processes,large pre-investments(for factory buildings,moulds,equipments,etc.),and high material consumptions.Thus,a novel method of producing keyboard,UV adhesive keys + film keyboard(abbreviation: UV adhesive keypad)has been developed and is now at the stage of industrial manufacture.It is the subject of this dissertation to discuss this novel method in details.In a word,UV adhesive keypad exhibits great advantages,and has started to replace the traditional P+R keyboards.This thesis describes the production technology of UV adhesive keypad in details.First,this thesis described the background of the development of UV adhesive keypad,as well as the history and the future trends of mobile phone keyboards.The changing from traditional injection molding keyboards to the modern UV adhesive keypad is described in details,especially the definition,the features,and the production processes of UV adhesive keypad.Then,the choices of raw materials for the production of UV adhesive keypad are further discussed.We analyzed,summarized and compared the ingredients of a few types of commercially available UV adhesive,and finally determined the composition of our UV adhesive.After that,film keyboard was chosen considering the important facts that affect the properties of the keyboards.By cross-comparison of the commercially available materials,we chose one of the film keyboards that suited our UV adhesive the most.Finally,after the determination of the two most important materials,the production process was discussed.By adjusting the important factors,an exclusive proposal of manufacturing equipments and production processes for our company was submitted.The purpose of this thesis is to establish a production system for UV adhesive keypad,in other words,to provide a research idea for establishing a model.Hopefully,this thesis inspires the technicians of mobile phone keyboards to have new R&D solutions.
