At the beginning of the 21 st century,the chip industry was transferred to China.Due to limited technology,China mainly undertakes the packaging industry and the testing industry,which is the downstream of the chip manufacturing industry chain.It is difficult for the domestic industry to follow the design industry which is the upstream of the industrial chain.In recent years,China's chip industry has developed rapidly with the structure been continuously adjusted and optimized and the government has paid more and more attention to supporting the chip industry.In 2017,China's chip industry has become to the world's largest and fastest-growing industry.However,the chip industry in China has always not get rid of a dilemma: high-end chips which are difficult to self-sufficient rely heavily on imports.The chip industry is a modern "industrial grain" and an important factor to measure the comprehensive strength and technology of a country.China has developed rapidly in supercomputers with the chips being domestic completely and its research results maintain the world's leading position right now.As to devices for civil use such as PCs and mobile phones,however,it is still difficult for China to achieve self-sufficiency of high-end chips.Because of the variety of chips and their application to different fields to meet different needs,the discussion is very complicated.This paper is to research the smartphone CPU because the CPU is the central processor which is as important as the “brain” for the terminal.At the same time,the CPU is the hardest one to develop technology in chip manufacturing.Nowadays,most of the smartphone CPUs used come from Qualcomm.Although more than 50% of the world's mobile phones are made in China,less than 3% of the chips are from China.Therefore,the smart phone CPU is selected as the representative of the high-end chip to explore the dilemma and breakthrough of China's high-end chips.The research ideas of this paper are as follows.Firstly,the development status of the global chip industry is introduced;the CPU production process and the difference between high and low-end processors are given a brief description;the development history of the global chip industry,industrial layout,industrial transfer and the development of CPU are also described.Secondly,the Analysis on the Dilemma and Causes of China's Chip Industry Development.Thirdly is Analysis of the influencing factors affecting the technological innovation of chip manufacturing enterprises from the perspective of micro-enterprise,such as R&D system,talent team and funding;case analysis is also employed to verify them,focusing on Huawei's smart phone CPU-Kirin chip in the R & D system,talent team and funding investment in how to break through the predicament and achieve proud results and self-sufficiency.Finally,there are some recommendations for China's chip manufacturers about how to reform in the difficult situation.This paper has certain implications for China's chip industry development model and the choice of manufacturers' R&D investment decision-making.It is also significant for other types of manufacturing enterprises to learn how to build sustainable and healthy development models.
