Now,HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding)is the most popular video coding standard, based on upper generation coding standard h.264.In the condition that the same video image quality is maintained, the code rate of the video stream is reduced by 50%.But HEVC's computational complexity will increase 2 to 4 times. The research and development of multi-core/many-core processor provide a reliable solution to solve above problems. The study of multi-core processors originated in the 1990s.After more than 20 years of development, the multi-core processor has entered the stage of large-scale application and gradually transitioned into the stage of many-core.In the near future,it will be an inevitable trend for many-core processors to replace multi-core processors.OpTiMSoC(Open Tiled Manycore System-on-Chip)is a library based platform architecture,it allows the user to gear different applications, according to user's special requirements and build the many-core processor. It also allows the operation of simulation, synthesis, etc. This article focuses on module computational complexity in the process of HEVC decoding,to analyze the decoding performance bottlenecks.Built the many-core processor Based on the OpTiMSoC platform and preceding conclusion. Then tested by a variety of test sequences, and compared with hardware platform decoding performance, the performance of the designed many-core processor is verified. The specific research contents are as follows:(1)This article studied the key technology of HEVC coding standard and decoding process, through a variety of test sequence decoding result, analysed the decoding computation of the modules, draw a conclusion of the decoding performance bottleneck, provided the basis for the design of many-core processor.(2)Built the 8x8 many-core processor based on OpTiMSoC platform, then tested the processor by the integral algorithm which is based on monte carlo algorithm, the results of test shows that the structure of many-core processor complete, functional right.Compared with single-core processor, there are some acceleration effects for the designed many-core processor.(3)Tested the many-core processor by decoding a variety of test sequences, then decode same sequences on the hardware platform DE3 after migrate the many-core processor into it.And draw out two groups of acceleration.Compared with two sets of data, the acceleration of many-core processor will be more than 20.The real-time reliability of many-core processor can be verifried.
