The publication of Cutback on TV Reality Show has led to a sharp adjustment in the production of Chinese reality shows.TV ordinary reality shows regarding the ordinary people as the participants are thriving and have gradually represented the new trend in the development of Chinese television market.In response to government policy regulation,CCTV has launched two seasons of a reality show targeting the ordinary people—Happy Chinese.This program has a good narrative mode and innovative use,and is praised by the audience for its true Chinese story narration content,rich discourse expression and vivid mainstream value.Furthermore,the innovative communication channel of media convergence it provides has been widely recognized by domestic and foreign media.In this,this program has become a leader in Chinese TV ordinary reality show industry.As innovation is the primary force guiding development,Happy Chinese always follows this principle and applies innovation to the elements of program narrative mode,pioneering a practical path for the innovative development of TV ordinary reality shows.Based on the methods of case analysis,text analysis,this thesis adopts Television Narratology theory,realizing a detailed and comprehensive text analysis of the 21 episodes of Happy Chinese.First of all,an interpretation and definition of Television narratology,narrative mode,TV ordinary reality show,and some other related concepts have been provided.Based on this,the thesis sorts out the program content,allocation and narrative mode characteristics,and simultaneously focuses on a thorough analysis of the elements of program narrative mode.Secondly,this paper discusses about the innovation and application of the narrative mode in this program from four aspects: the selection of narrators,the transformation of narrative perspective,the function of narrative symbols,and the content of narration.And it finally comes to the following conclusions: the real and vivid Chinese story is one of the sources of “good stories”;narrators' “dialogue” approaches enable the “good stories” to walk into audience's hearts and to resonate with them;the innovative use of various symbols emphasizes the significance of narration and promotes the spread of story connotation;the mutual integration and cross-application of diverse narrative perspectivecould help narration to achieve the best results.The thesis is ended by exploring the narrative dilemma of the TV ordinary reality show and extracting the enlightenment of development for the ordinary reality show from the innovative narrative mode of Happy Chinese,as these insights will have some referential significance to the future creation of similar programs.In addition,the main contribution of this study lies in the exploration of the innovation and application of Happy Chinese's narrative mode from the perspective of TV original reality shows which aim to “telling Chinese stories well”.Under the current social background and communication environment,such an innovative study has its merits to the researches in this field.Taking case study and text analysis as the main research methods,a detailed and thorough analysis on Happy Chinese has been presented,and has indicated that the aims of this paper are to seek the innovative meaning of the narrative mode in reality ordinary shows by individual study and to provide theoretical basis and innovative ideas for the development of Chinese ordinary reality shows.
