A Study On The Publication Status Of County Chronicle In Anhui Province Since 1949

County chronicle,which records the natural,political,economic cultural and other information of a county,is a comprehensive writing and reflection of its historical development,thus it can be called an encyclopedia of a county.A county chronicle is an important driver of the development of a county.It helps a county's leading cadres to make scientific decisions,promotes a county's economic development,and accelerates the development of the education about the national conditions.Since chorography in Anhui Province enjoys a history of nearly two millenniums,it is a brilliant part of the regional culture of Anhui Province and an indispensable component of traditional Chinese culture.As an Anhui native and graduate student majoring in publishing,I have great interests in the publication status of county chronicle in Anhui Province.Therefore,I collected and sorted out county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949,based on which,I summed the publication status of these chronicles and analyzed their characteristics and publishing value.I hope that the results of my research can be an assistance to those researching county chronicles in Anhui Province.Apart from the introduction,my paper consists of four chapters.In the first chapter,I analyzed the publishing status of county chronicle in Anhui Province since 1949 from these macroscopic aspects:the number of county chronicle,the number of county chronicle publishers and the classification of county chronicles.The second chapter is a comparative study on the existing versions of the county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949.With Anhui Provincial Library,Huangshan Publishing House and National Digital Library of China,I sorted out three series of books about the study of county chronicles in Anhui Province,namely the series of chorography in Anhui Province,the series of historical chorography in Anhui Province,and the series of chorography in China.And then,I divided them into two parts based on their contents:the old county chronicles in Anhui Province that have been sorted out and published and the new county chronicles in Anhui Province that have been compiled and published.The first section of this chapter is an overview of the old and new county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949;in the second and third sections,I made comparison between the new and old county records in Anhui Province since 1949 from the two aspects including the compilation content and compilation structure.Their similarities and differences reveal the contents,versions and styles of county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949.In the third chapter,I analyzed two features of county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949 in terms of contents:one is that they show the regional characteristics of Anhui,and the other is that they display the unique academic schools of Anhui.In the fourth chapter,I discussed the publishing value of county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949 from four perspectives:first,they have preserved vital historical materials;second,they have revealed past changes;third,they have demonstrated local characteristics;and fourth,they have showed the value of the geographical situation.County chronicles which is an indispensable component of national culture,should arouse our attention.However,due to the high costs and troublesome processes in reading and borrowing them in libraries,people often know names of these chronicles while have never seen them,which is detrimental to the full use of and deep research on the culture of county chronicles.Under this condition,I delved into the publication of county chronicles in Anhui Province since 1949,offering convenience to those researching on county chronicles in Anhui Province.
