A Study Of The Investigative Short Video News Under The Perspective Of New Narratology

With the rapid development of the short video industry and the launch of short video news of different media,the short video news have gradually affected the innovation and development of News Narratology."We Video",as a video news project jointly launched by The Beijing News and Tencent News,already had some investigative short video reports.Those reports are similar to the traditional media's investigative reports,and there are some typical reports such as the "Beijing's Wine shill full chain investigation","Secret investigation of Harbin taxi chaos" and "Female job seekers get into loans swindle for plastic surgery "This essay took the investigative short video reports of "We Video" project as the research object,and the duration January 1,2017 to November 30.2018 as the research time.Then,it applied text analysis and case study to analyze the 40 collected samples.After learning from scholars Ming Ouyang,Zhao Ouyang and Chun He's research framework of News Narratology,this essay adopted "narrator-narrative perspective-narrative time-narrative language-narrative stratesy and meaning construction"as the final framework.The study found that the development history of the investigative short video reports of "We Video" project is not long,and the number of this kind of reports gradually increased from the second half of 2017.After studying the narrators of the 40 samples,the author found that the function and competence of journalists,which appear as public narrator(belongs to heterodiegetic narrator),have been strengthened.In addition,the "We Video" also uses main characters of the event as self-narrators,thus is able to interpret the truth through the first-person narration.As for the narrative perspective,the investigative short video reports of "We Video"mainly use internal and external focalization,and does not employ the omniscient zero focalization.From the narrative time,investigative short video reports of "We Video" often use the narrative sequence,narrative rhythm and narrative frequency to adjust the narrative rhythm and attract audiences.After studying the narrative language of these 40 samples,it can be found that,under the authentic principle of news,"We Video" usually combines image,voice and text languages to enrich its narration."We Video" also has four narrative strategies:a flexible conversion among different types of narrator,a diversified and common narrative perspectives,being good at controlling the narrative rhythm and key points and fully integrating the three categories narrative language.Under the influence of the mainstream ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics,"We Video" follows the three paths of meaning construction:constructing social knowledge,shaping social norms and forming social consensus,thus guiding public opinion and affecting the audience.Through the above findings,the author summarized that "We Video" project pays more attention to the report's authenticity in narration.It also implicitly transmits and even avoids the tendency of reporting through the use of multiple narrative methods and strategies,thus maintaining the report's objectivity.As a new type of report based on the Internet and social media."We Video" also tries to enhance attraction,infection and professionalization of reports through integrating narrative languages,using narrative methods such as narrative time and narrative perspective,thus catering to the reading habits of audience.However,compared with traditional investigative reports,investigative short video reports of "We Video" project still lacks of depth.Combining the narrative features and narrative strategies of " We Video" the author tries to put forward the following four suggestions at the end of this essay:treading the razor's edge of the news narration and following the objective and authentic principles,focusing on social pain points and selecting truly valuable news events for reporting,using series reports to balance the game of depth and speed,as well as using social media's features to broaden the scope of narration.
