Telecommunication Network Equipment Procurement Projects

Procurement of network equipment constitutes a major part of mobile telecommunications businesses.This equipment is very expensive and purchasing them requires the establishment of a sound and reliable process in the execution of procurement projects.Most equipment is procured to catch up with all technological innovations,relevant competitions,and customer requirements.Acquisition for a durable system constitutes a real challenge in telecommunications.In several instances,what remains at the core towards procuring telecommunication network equipment is relative to the success and still is limited in knowledge.This study aims at examining the critical success factors in the telecommunication network related to MTN Ghana as a sample.This exploratory innovation adopts both desktop review and field primary data collection using a blend of simple experimental techniques to extract relevant data from staff of MTN Ghana and other telecommunication industry players.Data has been analyzed using descriptive statistics supported with relative analysis of desktop reviewed information and other sources from MTN Ghana.The study found that,there was at least a minimum of eleven key recognizable factors that played significant roles in the success factors towards Telecommunication Network Equipment Procurement projects at MTN Ghana.These success factors ranked in terms of contribution from the highest to lowest range from supplier,process,time and price,ensuring a technological standard.Also,there is the Relationship with supplier,Top Management support effective system training and documentation,supportive system integration,security,change management,performance measurement and compliance to risk mitigation.This study has demonstrated that ensuring the unchallenged success of Telecommunication Network Equipment Procurement projects at MTN does not come without a systems thinking framework.Thus the factors are multifaceted or multipurpose.The evidence established calls for a relook or rethink of the effectiveness of Telecommunication Network Equipment Procurement.This is the procurement process itself,which would need to be streamlined and made easily understood by the general public.
