Research On The Self-presentation Of Male Stars On Weibo

With the development of the mass media,Sina Weibo,as a leading social media platform in China,is closely related to our daily life.The number of Weibo users keep growing while stars use the platform to propagate information and shape their public image.Under the trend of today's entertainment and cultural industry,the grassroots or tough image are no longer well-received by the mainstream like before.Instead,the public prefer feminine and lovely stars at present.Under such aesthetic sense,how male stars maintain their social image is crucial to their development.A star itself is treated as an IP.His commercial value has already spread from the entertainment circle to the entire business ecosystem.How male stars build their personal IP through self-presentation,what aesthetic characteristics appear in self-presentation under the current aesthetic trend,and the reconstruction of social body aesthetics are worth discussing and exploring.This paper uses the literature analysis method to analyze the previous literatures at home and abroad,and gets a conclusion that the male star has become the object that are consumed by consumers in the current society background.Then the author uses the content analysis method to encode the self-presentation photos of the male stars on Weibo.The finding tells that under the influence of the aesthetic named “Little Fresh Meat”,the overall makeup style of male stars is taking place a significant change.Through the text analysis method,combing the male celebrity commercial endorsement data and the text presentation on the micro-blog,it is found that there is a close connection between the male celebrity and fans.The strong economic power of the fans also has a definite impact on the image of the male celebrity group.The paper explores the impact of today's self-presentation characteristics of male stars on the reconstruction of social body aesthetics and the striking of traditional male temperament by qualitative analysis.Finally,the prospect of such social phenomenon is mentioned.Social aesthetics is reshaping male stars' social image,and their self-presentation affects social aesthetics vice versa.Both of the two parts have a impact on the reconstruction of body aesthetics to sme extent.However,the characteristics of male stars' self-presentation also have problems such as the deviation of traditional male temperament.Therefore,a reasonable view of the self-presentation of male stars is crucial for the development of a diversified entertainment culture industry.
