In the living,over 80% information that human gets is in the form of image.As the most common image process technology,interpolation technology has always been a hot spot.Through image magnification processing technology,image can be more intuitive,more accurate and higher resolution.With the rapid development of integrated circuit technology,Field Programmable Gate array technology provides an easier and faster way for digital image processing.Benefit from FPGA's powerful parallel processing capability,as well as the characteristics of repeatable programming and customization,there is a more flexible and efficient option to choose in Digital image processing technology.Firstly,this paper introduced several common interpolation algorithms,and then proposed a new interpolation algorithm which was named as adaptive directional interpolation algorithm.Secondly,this paper compared the adaptive directional interpolation algorithm with several traditional image interpolation method sin software emulation with MATLAB.Then,this paper analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the adaptive directional interpolation algorithm from the aspects of subjective evaluation and objective evaluation.Through comparison,this paper concluded that the adaptive directional interpolation algorithm had great effect on images with rich details,flat images and images containing long edges,which proved that the adaptive directional interpolation algorithm had obvious advantages over the traditional interpolation algorithms in image interpolation.Finally,this paper built a digital image interpolation amplification system on the FPGA platform based on Kintex-7.According to the design's requirement,each module was described with Verilog HDL.The design was divided as following modules: Video data collection module,adaptive directional interpolation algorithm module,DDR3 Storage Control module,color space conversion module,cache read and write control module,and storage display module.And the function of each module was simulated and verified by ISE software.Also,at the end of this paper,the result of the hardware system was given.The test results show that the system can process video signal with 480 P resolution in real time by adaptive directional interpolation algorithm,and the output image is of 1080 P resolution,the system has good quality and great stability,which verified the feasibility of the system.
