The News Frame Study Of Reporting On Families Bereft Of Their Only Child Between People's Network And The Paper

“Shi du”,a specific phenomenon under China?s one-child policy on family planning,means families bereft of their only child.Since 2012,this phenomenon has exposed as a new social issue in public discourse.However,in recent years,mass media has gradually shift from the initially explosive concern to the selective oblivion regarding the phenomenon of “Shi du”.Currently,there are more than 200 million one-child families that are essentially at risk of bereavement in China.The phenomenon has its long-term social influence and importance.Based on the premise of this news value to explore research on the news report is particularly important.The news coverage correlated to the bereaved parents who lost their single child derives from the objective reality of the phenomenon.The reexamine of the report about “Shi du” issue reveals the news media against the choice of society and the reorganization mechanism of the media.In Public Opinion,Lippmann mentioned that the news report is the “image” of the world.But the emergence of the Internet has subverted the one-way transmission mode of the traditional media.The public cognition of the phenomenon of “Shi du” comes not only from the social real picture provided by the media,but also from the interaction of the audience frame in the network news platform.Hence,the research on the reports from the news websites will contribute to rethink of the bias that provides a benign media discourse space for the reconstruction of the “Shi du” status.Meanwhile,it should be avoided in the framework of the report on the news websites.As it is described above,this research takes the news of the People's Network and The Paper as the research object and probes the strategy operated by news websites that present the phenomenon of “Shi du” by applying the framework of the three level structure analysis method proposed by Zang Guoren.In the selection of the process as well as the reconstruction of it,the research will focus on the construction of the content.Through these observations,we find the characteristics of the phenomenon in media reality while the variations of different framework strategies on the different news sites.From the results of the research,we find out that two mainstream media websites indicate obvious differences regarding the news framework.In the high-level structure,the People's Network pays attention to construct the theme of “ the interpretation of policies and regulations” and “all circles call for suggestions”.The Paper emphasizes on the characters of the life status of “Shi du” group.In the middle-level structure,the framework of the People's Network has the characteristic of “event-oriented” media,while The Paper returns the right of speech to the “Shi du” group,helping them to rebuild the framework.In the low level structure,the differences of the information sources match the theme in high-level structures of these two mainstream media.Based on the characteristics of the party media,the People?s Network are always leading the official discourse right;however,The Paper uses intertextuality,combined with multiple sources of information to construct the discourse space.Meanwhile,it has changed the fixed mode of “Shi du omission” in the news report.
