In Guangzhou, the influx of Africans as a "marginalized" group has brought about some social problems while boosting trade and economic benefits between China and Africa. The coverage of the positive and negative impact on Africans created an informational environment that became the main source of Guangzhou Africans' impression of Guangzhou residents who lack direct contact with Africans.Based on the theoretical research on the use of media, social identity and immigration in China, this study considers that the social cognition of immigrants by immigrants is greatly influenced by the use of media by non-immigrant countries in China.Based on an empirical survey of 521 local residents in Guangzhou, the data found that local residents in Guangzhou have special social distance to Africans, and there is more obvious residential and pedigree segregation while more willing to make friends psychological. The local public's bias towards Africans mainly focuses on the negative impact of social order. It has a positive attitude toward Africans' comprehensive effects on Guangzhou and the recognition of African culture.Since the Guangzhou-based African population is mainly business-oriented and has not really entered the labor market in Guangzhou, the overwhelming majority of citizens do not think that Guangzhou Africans will compete for their jobs in the country. After analyzing the indicators of social media use and various indicators of social identity, the study found that: the duration of media use,the quantity perception of relevant reports and the tendency perception have significant relationship with the social identity of Guangzhou Africans. The longer the media is used, the more likely it will be to appraise the negative social identities of Guangzhou Africans. The more the number of reports is,the more likely it will be to appraise the negative social identities of Guangzhou Africans. The more negative the trends tend to be,Negative social recognition of people.Based on the research conclusions, this article believes that the actual group experience and opinions of Guangzhou's African cannot be expressed and has always been in a passive position shaped by others. In addition to the lack of social contact with local residents, its group image is also formed by passive perception of local residents. In order to improve the social identity of Africans in Guangzhou,it is necessary for the local media to face and report on the problems of Africans in Guangzhou more objectively, thus forming a more benign non-governmental exchange relationship between China and Africa.
