With the growth of our great country,Chinese space industry has gone through50 remarkable years,and achieved a series of achievements which make we Chinese people proud and appeal to the world as well.From the launch of the shenzhou-1 to the launch of the shenzhou-11 spacecraft,the Shenzhou spacecrafts have been transformed from generation to generation,attracting the world's attention again and again.This essay draws qualitative and quantitative analysis about Shenzhou spacecrafts in People's Daily and the New York Times based on the frame theory,for the purpose of finding out the report frame of the above two major nation medias and revealing the possible reasons behind as well.Guided by Zang Guoren's high,medium and low frame structures,this paper makes a statistical analysis in the two newspapers about Shenzhou spacecrafts from the following aspects,the subject,the report amounts,forms of literature,sources and the rhetorical devices in order to explore the characteristics of two report frames.The author holds an opinion that the People's Daily,Chinese official newspaper,reported the successful Shenzhou spacecrafts from several aspects,creating an increasingly powerful,peaceful and flourishing nation image.The New York Times,America's first major newspaper,truthfully reports Chinese space achievements.However,it intends to cover with the shadow of hegemony and military over China's space progress.The report is filled with hidden distort and prejudice which seems true.The negative tendency is obvious.Through longitudinal comparing,the author found that The New York Times hid its negative attitude under the news background introduction gradually,weakening its sound as a whole,which suggests that the United States are facing with the vigorous development of China.This essay is made of five parts: The introduction part briefly introduces the research background,the purpose and significance first.Second it concludes literature reviews of Shenzhou spacecrafts and frame theory.Third it introduces the research method.The second chapter mainly introduces the theoretical basis of this research.Firstof all,the author reviews the frame theory of its interpretation and academic origin.Second,it introduces the high,medium and low frame structures from Zang Guoren,which provides a theoretical foundation for the following content analysis.In the third chapter,the author analyzes Shenzhou spacecrafts frame characteristics from high,medium and low frame structures between People's Daily and the New York Times,including the subject,the report amounts,forms of literature,sources and the rhetorical devices.The fourth chapter summarizes the features of the two major medias based on the previous analysis and tries to analyze the reasons for the differences in media framework.The last chapter is reflection and summary.
