Design And Implementation Of An Information Management System For Reviewing Engineering Drawings

Engineering drawings are the programmatic guidance documents for product design,manufacture,and inspection,and are valuable intellectual wealth of companies.With the development of information technology,electronic drawings generated by CAD have been widely used,and have become the main document form for the exchange and storage of enterprise engineering drawings.Due to the importance and authority of engineering drawings in design and manufacturing,usually after the completion of design drafting,they must undergo rigorous process review,standardization review,department chief engineer review,and chief engineer review,and other reviews.During the review process,drawings probably undergo a process of revision,re-examination,etc.The reviewer and designers need to communicate several times.At last,the engineering draws can be approved for storage and issued to guide production after above review processes.The traditional engineering drawing reviewing method is inefficient,wastes resources,and information is easy to leak.How to use advanced computer network and database technology to establish an efficient and safe engineering drawing review information management system has very important practical significance and application value.Orienting to small and medium-sized manufacturing companies or design units,through the analysis of management methods and review procedures of general manufacturing companies,and combined with the current computer network technology,database service technology and AutoCAD secondary development platform,this paper designs and develops an engineering drawings review information management software system.The main review management system functions have been realized,which include submission to review for completed engineering drawings,review comments,drawing review and modification notices,drawings uploaded to the library,and other process managements.The mainly completed tasks are follows:(1)Management on submission of drawings for review.Through the user information management,the submitting authority and the review authority are limited.The submission of drawings for review can be implemented under the engineering drawing information management system and the AutoCAD design platform.(2)Drawing review process management.The system automatically pushes the drawings to the relevant reviewer's window.The review process advances and loops according to the predefined review process node,and the modification and approval information are automatically sent to the designers.(3)Automatic extraction of reporting information for review from drawings.With the objectARX technology,the system can automatically extract some reporting information such as product model,drawing name,and materials required from the title bar of the drawing,and automatically adds the extracted information to the information submission dialog.The review drawings are automatically transferred in the corporate network environment.This work does not only ensure the integrity,security,and data unity of the drawings,but also improve the efficiency of the company's drawings review.The completed engineering drawing review information management system has completed system testing and has been integrated under the JieHui Engineering Drawings Management Software System.It has been applied in a Dalian enterprise.Up to now the system is operating well.
