With the development of the CAD technology, more and more domestic enterprises and research institutions choose to use large foreign3D CAD system to design product, while most enterprises still use engineering drawings in manufacture. The most important issue which’ the engineering faced is converting the three-dimensional CAD model to2D drawings. Although foreign3D CAD system provides partial2D drawing functions, there are still some unsolved problems: Foreign three-dimensional CAD platform is usually difficult to satisfy local and normal requirement of the domestic enterprises; low drawing efficiency, low intelligence, and complicated operation such as dimensions, the title bar, technical requirements, and etc., need to be added manually.Based on the above problems, the following investigations have been done in this paper to improve the efficiency of drawing and intelligence, and reduce the manual operation:(1) Basic theories of the secondary development of UG were studied, including the concept of secondary development, development tools, research status, and several key techniques. The database technology to the development of C/S structure software systems was also introduced.(2) Engineering drawing dimension of UG was studied. The automatic dimension algorithm based on shape analysis was proposed. The databases of dimension tolerance, geometric tolerance and the technical requirements were designed and built. Dimensioning, query and annotation of the tolerance could be automatically achieved. Furthermore, the solutions to shared technical requirements were provided.(3) The engineering drawing template of UG was studied. The database for all kinds of standard disk model was built to finish the2D drawings from the model’s projection by using the template technique. The standard-normal boundary and title bar to meet the engineering requirements were made by using API functions. Drawings were joined and printed automatically.Finally, according to enterprise’s needs, a part drawing system based on UG was developed. All the functions mentioned in this dissertation were test and verified by the components of aircraft turbine disk, and excellent effects were accomplished in company application.
