With the development of network communication technology and the deepening of globalization,TV dramas have gradually crossed the limits of time and space.First,there was "Korean Wave" that swept through Asia,and then the "American TV series" and"English drama" were highly sought after by the global audience.These all show the charm of television dramas.Every time it spreads across regions,it can always cause great concern.From the perspective of communication science,TV drama is not only a literary and artistic product for people's entertainment,but also a medium for disseminating culture and ideology.Therefore,TV dramas play an increasingly important role in the spread of culture throughout the world.British drama is a TV drama filmed and produced by the British film and television company and released on the market.With the advantage of the English language of the world language,the British drama has a wide audience in the world.At the same time,the British drama is well-made and the story is delicate.In the industry or outside the industry have a good reputation.The time for British dramas to enter China was in the late 1970s and early 1980s.At that time,many works were translated and the audience was relatively small.Later,with the development of network technology,the spread of English drama has gradually expanded and it has been increasingly affected.Many people,especially young people,love it.China belongs to the Asian cultural system and the United Kingdom belongs to the European cultural system.There are huge cultural differences and there are many obstacles in cultural exchange.However,in recent years,British dramas represented by "Downton Abbey" and "Sherlock" are very popular in China and it has set off a wave of "English drama fever".It can be said that it has successfully achieved cross-cultural communication.For China,which urgently needs to use TV programs to enhance its international cultural influence,it is of great practical significance to study the intercultural communication of British drama in China.This article will use the classical drama "Downtown Abbey" as an example,based on non-verbal communication theory and coding/decoding theory,combining the cultural backgrounds of the two countries,using a questionnaire survey,and in-depth analysis of the spread of the drama in China.Its successful experience is worth learning for domestic TV dramas.This article is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is an introduction,which mainly describes the origin of the research of this paper,the research status at home and abroad,and the research plan.Chapter 2 mainly introduces the history of the spread of English drama in China and the way it enters.China's Chapter 3 is a case study of Downton Abbey from the perspective of communication science.It uses non-verbal communication theory and coding/decoding theory to analyze its cross-cultural communication process,and analyzes the survey results to find out.Its characteristics in China's communication;Chapter 4 is based on the analysis results in Chapter 3,and summaries the success factors of Downton Abbey;Chapter 5 mainly explores how the spread of British drama in the world has turned China' s TV series out of the country.Inspiration from overseas.The trend of globalization today is becoming increasingly unstoppable,and the"globalization" of culture is also being taken seriously by more and more countries.As a developing cultural country,China is also seeking to develop a good domestic socialist culture.Strengthen foreign cultural exchanges and expand the international influence of Chinese culture.However,when we open the door to increase exchanges,we must actively promote China's excellent culture,but also to prevent the "cultural hegemony" of the invasion,which requires us to make more efforts in cross-cultural communication.As part of the cultural industry,TV dramas have the mission of disseminating excellent culture and the mainstream values of the country.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the cross-cultural communication of TV dramas.
