| This paper conducts a case study of The Wall Street Journal's framing pratice of Tencent from 2008 to 2017 to provide a peek at how Chinese Internet companies are framed in the western media and to facilitate their image-building efforts in overseas markets.Dwelling on framing theories,this paper resorts to discourse analysis,amodified version of Gamson's media package method,to examine the framing practice of he Wall Street Journal.Each frame is further analyzed for how it is constructed with the use of seven devices,namely metaphor,exemplar,comparison,catchphrase,objective and problem solving. |
