The group polarization phenomenon refers to the existing tendency strengthened by the interactionbetween the members of the group, so that the view in the group shift toward a more extreme direction, theoriginal conservative point of view will become more conservative and the original radical point of view willbe more adventurous. The group polarization of the internet shows an unusually fierce online mutual debate,and the seriously divided extreme behavior of the views. According to the statistics released recently of theCNNIC (China Internet Network Information Center) recently, the number of Internet users in China hasreached513million and the number of mobile phone netizens has reached356million. Nowadays, internetgroup polarization phenomenon has occurred frequently, this paper aims at exploring the folk mentalityreflected by the group polarization of Chinese users through research the extreme behavior of Chinese usersthe main factors leading to it.In this study, the status of the study based on domestic and international internets group polarizationphenomenon from the perspective of social psychology, especially the folk psychology to explore the Chinesepeople's unofficial, non-collegiate, unmembership provisions of the Chinese netizens folk mentality. In thisstudy, based on the perspective of the civil state of mind in real life, to describe and study the localization ofthe internet group polarization, can be more deeply in order to reveal the phenomenon of group polarization ofInternet users in China.This study is composed of two sub-studies: Study1, the domestic well-known large-scale forum drawn bysystematic sampling method, non-rational, Internet users in the network events parties tend to support or resist,leading to public opinion, a serious division all reviews of the hot events of the internet, using content analysisto explore the internet group polarization phenomenon reflecting the folk mentality of internet users. Theresults show that:(1) People who are seriously divided over the main arguments are differentiatedabout the date when they leave their comments.(2) People who are seriously divided over themain arguments are not differentiated about the date when they leave their comments.(3) Peoplewho are seriously divided over the main arguments don't have clear difference in the emotion andrational dimension, that is, netizens' mentality <mass public>is inclined to be more rational in the scenariowhich netizens attitudes go to extremes.(4) Peolple who are seriously divided over the main arguments haveno clear difference in the offensive dimension. That is, netizens' mentality <mass public>is inclined to be moreoffensive in the scenatio which netizens attitudes go to extremes.Study II, Study on the reasons that provoke netizens' extreme attitude through investigation&survey.(1)Studies show that anonymity will lead to different extreme groups.(2) The scenatio of different extremegroups has some bearing in the backgroud investigation and understanding.(3) Male are moreinclined to go extremes than female.For example, anomymity, information selection& absorbtion as well as genter elements results in the scenario of extreme netizen groups.The two studies in the paper are try to dig into the scenario of extremes group of netizens in the dimentionof folk psychology and hopefully, help to channel the behavior and mentality of mass public who surfingonline. Therefore, make some contribution to keep internet environment in order and build a harmonioussociety.
