Selfie as a photographic practice, its essence is "aim the camera on oneself, namely the behavior that individual make the lens taken on theirselves.From the early 19th century when photography was invented, this kind of behavior occurs with a few experimental photography from few people who owns the photography skill. With the change of times and social culture, selfie as a photography culture was extended out of numerous new meaning in the later: self portrait photography and the selfie culture under a perspective of mass culture, the latter is not only the extension of this kind of behavior of photography, but also the product of the impact among Internet and traditional mass culture.This article summarize the history of early behavior of "aim the camera on oneself and the selfie culture in China,state the similarities and differences of practical form、communication platform between the "self portrait photography" and "self-visual identity", expounds the behaviour pattern of selfie culture under the network environment, using the perspectives of youth subculture research in culture study and the Angle of audience research in communication studies, combines all kinds of typical demonstration and examples of demonstration based on the theory of exhibition/performing, attached to the interview for corroboration, then analyzed the development form of the subculture faced by today’s people under the network environment, and gave an response and representation of the social evaluation and social value.
