A Narrative Study Of News Reports On People At The Beijing News "Onion-Peeling People"

This thesis uses the method of text analysis to study character reports of the Beijing News from the perspective of narratology,trying to explore its unique narrative strategies and styles,and then providing references and operational recommendations for this kind of news writing.In particular,the paper are divided into three parts.The first part is an introduction presenting the general situation of this research,and combing the existing theoretical or practical studies on the subject of news narratology.Chapter Two to Chapter Six constitute the second part.In Chapter Two,narrators is divided into three categories:open narrators,invisible narrators and absent narrators.Chapter Three studies the narrative time from the aspects of time sequence,time span and frequency,and then explores the narrative rhythm and structure of samples.Chapter four summarizes the characteristics of narrative perspective,which concludes omniscient perspective,limited perspective and objective perspective.In Chapter Five,question of how to organize the original materials is answered.In addition,the categories,functions and principles of non-narrative discourse are discussed in Chapter Six.On the basis of the above studies,the third part of this paper summarizes the narrative features and shortcomings of figures reports of the Beijing News.The most significant insight is drawn here that figure reports should spare no effort to reach the narrative level of the feature articles,which becomes the law of figure-reports writing for not only the Beijing News but also other same type of medias.
