Entering the new century,Chinese museums have ushered in a new upsurge in both quantity growth and business scale.Shanghai,Nanjing,Suzhou and many other cities have proposed the concept and goals of the “city of museums”.The development of the museum industry has become a cultural construction.The focus of urban overall planning has become an important symbol for urban image architecture,as well as an important exchange platform for displaying urban history and regional cultural characteristics.In order to meet the cultural needs of more and more urban population and enhance the cultural connotation of the city,as an important measure to build a civilized and harmonious society,the government has taken the development of the museum undertaking as one of its main tasks.After more than ten years of development,the number of museums in China has grown from 1,000 in 2000 to 4,873 in 2016.The National Museum of Industrial Standards has been formed,the province's industry has represented the provincial key museums,the industry's main state-owned museums,and industrial development private museums.A wide range of museum systems are available.At the same time,although the number and scale are still important indicators for China's current measurement of the development level of the museum industry,it should be sobering to see that due to its special nature and institutional obstacles,the main museums and state-owned museums in China still have a low level of comprehensive management.Weak social service capabilities,inadequate professional and technical personnel,lack of mature management system,lagging in reform and development,and regional disparities.In order to improve the quality of museum operations and conduct performance evaluations of museums,in 2008,the State Administration of Cultural Heritage commissioned the China Museum Association to conduct the first assessment of the National Museum.From then on,once every three years,the assessment of national grade one,two and three museums will be carried out in accordance with the methods of independent application,industry evaluation,flexible management,and layered guidance.It is hoped that the principle of “accrediting by evaluation” will be adopted as a principle.Promote the healthy development of China's museum industry.As of 2016,three levels of assessments have been organized and assessed.789 national first-,second-,and third-tier museums have been graded and evaluated to establishbenchmarks for the museum industry,standardize business content,and guide government decisions to meet the needs of the general public.Cultural needs provide a good reference for reference.Based on the society's expectation and requirements for the assessment of museums,the article outlines the nature of museums and the development of museums in China.At the same time,it carefully analyzes and explains the current methods and contents of the assessment of museums' rating.The problems and their causes are analyzed and solutions are proposed.
