Study On Communication Practice Of Art Museum To Public Cultural Space

As the product of modern civilization, the history of art museum in China has not been one hundred years yet. As a public institution which produces and communicates culture by taking use of art works, the position of art museum is a public culture space which provides service for audiences. From the view of Communication Science, this article takes the Guangdong Museum of Art as a case, adopting literature review method, case study method,questionnaire survey and depth interview to analyze art museum as an art dissemination subject how to connect itself with the outside world with communication practice and complete the mission of culture production and communication.The introduction introduces the study background of this article.The second chapter retrospects briefly the developing process of western and Chinese art museums, summarizes the functions and meanings of art museum and introduces the Guangdong Museum of Art. The third chapter defines the concept and characters of the public cultural space on the basis of running through the relative theory. The fourth chapter interprets the significance that museum brings to city culture, art works and the people as a public cultural space.The fifth chapter discusses the culture production and communication practice of museum,analyzes the two culture production means——art exhibition and academic research, and studies the culture communication channels of museum which include museum publications, we media and mass media. The sixth chapter catches up with strategies of museum expanding public space on the basis of analyzing the factors which hinder museum practicing its publicity.
