Study On The Career Transformation Of Traditional Media Journalists In Henan Province Under The Background Of Media Integration

Journalists,as the core professionals in media organizations and the key power to influence the media integration process,play important roles in journalism and communication activities.Over recent years,with the emerging of new media forms,traditional media has gradually declined and the media industry has become more and more complex.These trends have exerted great influence on journalists' career development.Some journalists working in traditional media are seeking career transformation.Whether a new round of resigning is gaining momentum is an issue calls for more attention.This research was mainly carried out through questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to investigate the occupational status,the intentions and directions of career transformation of traditional media journalists in Henan Province under the context of media integration.The study founds:First,traditional media journalists are incapable of using new media in Henan Province;Journalists' career satisfaction is low;The occupational pressure is high,and the burnout in this kind of job is severe.Second,in the survey,nearly 40% of the interviewed has a strong desire for transformation,and traditional media journalists are waiting for better opportunities;There are significant differences in journalists' willingness of transformation among different majors,different media types and different working years;Their transformation willingness is positively correlated with occupational pressure and job burnout while it is negatively correlated with their job satisfaction.Third,traditional media journalists are standing at the crossroads of career development.New media,universities and research institutes are very popular when journalists make choices for their career transformation.In the traditional media field of Henan Province,a resigning trend may occur at any time.In this research,the career transformation of the traditional media journalists in Henan Province will not only do harm to the long-term development of traditional media but also hinder the steady progress of media integration to a large extent.With regard to these situations,solutions to stabilizing journalists' professional status in two respects,namely,the journalist's self-control and the traditional media agency's control,are put forward in this thesis.
