The "gatekeeper" theory is one of the important theories of journalism research.The existence of "gatekeepers" is to effectively control the content and methods of information dissemination and effectively manage and screen information.Whether in the era of traditional media or the era of mobile Internet,media "gatekeepers" have a pivotal role.At the same time,however,with the strong rise of new media,the function of media information dissemination has been impacted,and the "gatekeeper" theory has also received more and more questions.What bears the brunt is the impact on the"gatekeeper" system of traditional media represented by newspapers.Whether or not the "gatekeeper" remains is also a topic of debate today.In view of this,western researchers have also conducted a lot of research and analysis on the "gatekeeper" model of the newspaper's online version.This article is based on the WeChat public number of China's local metropolitan newspaper and draws on White's empirical research methods to conduct research and analysis on the"gatekeeper" and "gatekeeper" modes of the WeChat public account of the local city newspaper in China.Trying to find out in the social context of China,Western communication scholars have found out whether the "gatekeeper" research thesis of the online version of the newspaper is equally applicable,and compared with the traditional newspaper "check-in" model,and the "check-in" of its WeChat account number.Has the mode changed?This article uses interviews,observations,and content analysis to conduct research,and finds that the WeChat public number of the local city newspaper in China is very similar to its "gatekeeper" model and the traditional newspaper"gatekeeper" model,and that the media "gatekeepers" still exist.Plays a role;just as White's earliest "gatekeeper" study concluded,the "gatekeeper" of the WeChat public account is still subject to subjective factors,but in addition to this,institutional factors such as time and work pressure,work The influence of conventions and other"gatekeepers" cannot be ignored either;the role of "been targeted" has changed,the impact on "gatekeepers" has increased day by day,and even sometimes they have participated in the customs clearance process;and market-driven "gatekeepers" news selection.In order to maximize the market,"gatekeepers" pay more and more attention to attracting audiences and advertisers.In summary,the conclusions of this study can be summarized in three aspects.First,the "gatekeeper" model of the local metropolitan newspaper WeChat public number has not changed much compared to the traditional model;secondly,the online edition of the relevant newspaper in the west "gatekeepers".The conclusions of the study apply in China as well;Third,the influence of the"targeted target" and market-oriented factors on the online media "gatekeepers" has become prominent.In a theoretical sense,this study has made up for the gap in China's traditional media coverage of "gatekeepers" in the new media platform and provided constructive suggestions for China's "network gatekeepers" in the future;Under the condition of mixed media,the WeChat public number of the mainstream media provides an effective way to consider and attract the attention of the audience.This study is very practical.
