The Cultural Block Of Science Communication

As a typical representative of post normal science,transgenic technology has been controversial after entering into public view,and has challenged by both technical and cultural aspects.Among them,resistance from the cultural level,constructs a reversal space secretly but rooted in the field of daily life,which affects the public's attitude towards transgenic technology.Based on the critical interpretation of anti-GM discourse constructed by the culture of health preservation,this paper probes into how the anti-GM discourse resist scientific rationality and establish its own cultural authority and pseudo-science authority in a traditional and practical way based on the culture of preserving health.This paper argues that the anti-GM discourse constructs the logic that nature is heaven in anti-GM discourse by using the cultural factors of health culture including the concept of harmony between heaven and Man,the natural diet view and anti-scientific view.In the knowledge production of natural law,food and life taboo and self-identity,it gives the social cognition that transgenic technology is the non-normalization which arouses the public's resistance.At the same time,by dint of the health with apriority,permeability and social ease,anti-GM discourse establishes the authoritative and cultural loyalty in the field of daily life.It plays the role of Science Man which is more in line with traditional cultural values to dispel scientific authority.Therefore,scientific communication needs to respond to the public's demands and stem the uncertainty panic in the field of daily life.Also,it need to understand resistance strategy and add the knowledge of science.
