In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSN)have become more widely used in medical surveillance, security, military, environmental control, and industrial applications.Because sensor nodes have poor storage and processing capabilities and limited carrying energy, their communication reliability is poor and their network lifetime is short.Wireless communication is the most energy-consuming module of the sensor network. Therefore, improving communication reliability and reducing node energy consumption is the main method to prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. This paper applies LDPC codes to wireless sensor networks.LDPC has very strong error-correcting ability and can effectively reduce the bit error rate(BER)of data transmission between sensor nodes. In the case of ensuring communication reliability, the coding technology can reduce the transmission power and extend the network life cycle. The main work of the paper is as follows:This article analyzes the basic principles and performance of LDPC codes, and uses the minimum decoding algorithm. In order to analyze the performance of LDPC codes,RS code is introduced in the article for comparison. The Berlekamp decoding algorithm is used for the RS code. The error performance of different code length, bit rate LDPC codes and different error correction capability RS codes are simulated. Then establish a wireless sensor network model.the sensor node data transmission can be divided into two cases: a single node sends information to the sink node, all nodes send information to the sink node at the same time, according to the different ways of sending nodes, establish two kinds of wireless sensor network energy model.Experiments select suitable LDPC codes and RS codes to compare their energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks. Finally, the feature distance between sensor nodes is calculated: the optimal deployment distance. It can improve the utilization efficiency of node energy. The experimental results show that adding LDPC codes to wireless sensor networks can effectively improve energy efficiency.Nodes use coding techniques to save roughly 60% to 80% of energy compared to uncoded systems. The LDPC code has higher energy efficiency than the RS code.In addition, the energy efficiency of sensor nodes is closely related to the deployment distance between nodes. The experiment uses LDPC coding technology and the feature distance of nodes increases by 10 m to 20 m.LDPC encoding technology can reduce the number of sensor node deployments and save costs.
