WeChat Emojis And Their Multi-meaning Space

With the advent of the new media era and the increasing popularity of smart phones,online social networking has already penetrated into all aspects of our lives.People are accustomed to using social software to connect with other individuals.The traditional face-to-face communication and telephone communication have gradually evolved into online communication on the Internet,which combines virtual and reality closely.In social networking,people not only use words to express their emotions,but also communicate with emojis,which even have an indispensable position.WeChat emojis rely on WeChat's powerful platform and are naturally representative.Based on above,this article takes the WeChat emoji as the research object,aiming at its self-presentation,development history and characterization characteristics.Through literature research and case analysis methods,the paper tries to explore the process of characterization of the WeChat emoji and what it can represent.The use of multiple sense spaces and the use of WeChat emojis for interpersonal communication.The main body of this article is divided into four parts.First of all,it analyzes the basic status quo of WeChat communication platform,and studies the communication characteristics of WeChat and verbal communication in WeChat environment.Then the author combed the historical process of the WeChat emojis,classified them according to the time sequence and summarized their own characteristics.In the second part of the article,according to the famous philologist Pierce's dichotomy,the author divided the WeChat emojis into indicative symbols,image symbols,and symbolic symbols,and studied the two processes of their representation.The process of symbolization and the process of symbolization of internal concepts are,in summary,the process by which people use emoji to produce meaning when they chat with WeChat.Therefore,in Chapter 3,this paper studies the triple meaning spaces of the WeChat emoji.First of all,it is the initial meaning of “literally interpreting”.It is the understanding of its own meaning when people use the WeChat emoji.The second is symbolic meaning,which is another layer of meaning beyond the initial meaning.It is also the understanding of the “symbolic” meaning of the WeChat emoji.The third is its other meaning in specific contexts.In the last chapter,from the perspective of social relations,this paper studies the influence of the use of WeChat emojis on interpersonal communication,summarizes its positive aspects and negative aspects,and proposes rationalized suggestions.This article starts with the use of emoticons in the process of WeChat chat,discusses the emoji characterization process and its multiple meaning spaces,summarizes the positive and negative effects of using WeChat emojis on interpersonal communication,and puts forward corresponding suggestions.Which can create a more active and healthy network environment for all of us.
