The construction of the gateway websites holds the utmost significance to the informationalization of all the institutes and enterprises.Comparing with the traditional unitary website construction mode, website group has its own innovation and advancement, for which most domestic institutes of higher learning have embarked on implementing website group software project. However, numerous research show quite a large number of software developing projects are still facing a series of issues, such as poor quality of products which can bare meet the demands of clients and delay in delivery, which is due largely to technology but management.Though there are a large quantity of researches and applications of the management of software developing projects both from abroad and domestically, the concept“website group”is unique to China with distinctive Chinese national features. Therefore, carrying out the down-to-earth application research by considering the special trade background of institutes of higher learning is highly necessary.Based on the relevant theories of software engineering and project management and combining with the case analysis of the construction project of website group of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine(FJUTCM),this thesis delves into the management and control methods of the whole lifespan of website groups of institutes of higher learning with its emphasis on putting forward some problem-solving tactics and measures to some frequent issues encountered in the process of deploying website group project of institutes of higher learning in hope of rendering reference to the management of deploying website group project of institutes of higher learning. The thesis can be divided into the following parts:The first part is Chapter One,the introduction to the thesis. In this part the research background is discussed, then the current foreign and domestic research status on website group of higher learning institutes, project management and software project management, clarifying the necessity and feasibility of putting the theories of project management into the practice of software project of institutes of higher learning and restating the research goal and significance.Lastly, the research content, structure of the thesis and creative points are stated briefly. The second part, from Chapter Two to Chapter Four, elaborates on the application of theories of project management to website groups of higher learning institutes.Chapter Two is an introduction to the relevant concepts and knowledge.Chapter Three discusses in details on management theories and methods of website groups of higher learning institutes:Firstly the software developing mode feasible to website groups of institutes of higher learning is discussed by combining, contrasting and analyzing relevant software engineering theories. Then, the management and control methods of the whole lifespan of website groups is researched and analyzed with its emphasis on the testing management and quality management in the process of developing. Finally, the management issues encountered in the software out-contract developing mode,a common mode adopted by most institutes of higher learning,is summarized in this part. The application of above theories and methods is demonstrated by analyzing the case of website group of FJUTCM in Chapter Four. The third part lay its emphasis on analyzing some usual issues in the process of deploying website groups of higher learning institutes, such as dealing with the out-contract relationship, the choice of project managers, the management of process documents and loss of staff and personnel. Some solutions to these issues and suggestions are put forward afterward.
