Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)are highly integrated networks,which combine sensor technology,wireless transmission technology,network communication technology,distributed information processing technology and programming technology as a whole.WSNs are widely used in places where are difficult to set up a wired communication network(such as remote mountainous areas,sea,etc.)or to implement a wired communication(such as earthquake area,etc.).WSNs can do real time monitor,sense,gather and process the information of various monitoring objects in the network distribution area,and transfer these information to users.Because wireless sensors in WSNs are often placed in complex environments,it is very difficult or even impossible to replace the battery of sensor networks nodes,the battery energy consumption has become an important research task.From the point of view of current research status,most researches only involve data transmission in direct connection path.In fact,in WSNs having a relay node,on the premise of considering factors such as line loss,the total amount of battery energy consumption of data transmission in the relay path may be less than that in direct connection path under certain conditions.On the other hand,when setting up WSNs battery energy consumption model,it has a generation gap between current researches which are mostly limited to a single pulse transmission and the actual situation based wireless packet transmission.Therefore,it is very necessary to deeply study the issue of packet-based transmission battery energy consumption in relay WSNs.On the basis of previous research,this thesis established a relay WSNs battery power computing model,which is based on the wireless packet transmission.In this model,based on battery energy consumed by transmitting the n-th pulse,battery energy consumed by transmitting a single under different wireless packet encapsulation and the relationships between the BER(Bit Error Rate,BER)of each relay transmission path and the BER of direct connection transmission path,we calculate the battery power consumption based on wireless packet transmission in direct path and the relay path,at the same time,taking two packet assembly approaches which are time-based and length-based into account.The purpose of this paper is to present the battery energy consumption of two data transmission packet assembly approaches,and the basis for selection of wireless packet transmission between the direct path or the relay path.Finally,the MATLAB simulation results validated the correctness and reasonableness of the model and provide a more meaningful reference value to the energy consumption of the relay WSNs research.
