With the deep application of computer in the field of education,online testing system has graduately replaced artifictial paper form.Online testing system has many advantages,such as high efficiency,low cost,convenient operation,etc.However,a superior guidance theory is also very important to online testing system.The classical test theory is a widely used as guidance theory in online system since it is simple and understandable.But,since education field has more restrict requirements of evaluation indicators,the classical test theory is difficult to adapt the situation due to its drawbacks.In exsisting measuring theories,item response theory attracts more and more attention owning to its unique advantages.In this paper,we consider the actual needs of computer basic teaching and use the item response theory as a guidance of online testing system.This system adopts J2 EE technology,database technology and WEB application server technology.First of all,the study and analysis on the existing testing system are conducted.By considering the drawbacks of existing systems,we establish a new model of online testing.Demand analysis is carried out on the test process and the core functionalities required for the exam system are also defined.Furthermore,we divide the functionality in details according to the functional requirements.At the same time,we establish related parameters of item response theory and analyze the test results.In this paper,we attempt to apply item response theory and realize a paperless testing system.The system uses item response theory as a guide for the testing and pays more attention to test the validity and the reasonable distribution of knowledge points.The analysis of basic characteristics and laws of score can reflect the inner relationship between knowledge score and various factors.Accordingly,teachers can improve teaching efficiency and effect.The study is significant and practical to ensure fairness of the exam,guarantee teaching effect and reduce repeated labor.In addition,the subject can promote further development of online testing system and is suitable for the test requirements in today's colleges and universities.
