MIMO(Multiple input Multiple output)technology is one of the main technology of the next generation of wireless communication system.Antenna selection technology is to use less radio frequency link to support more antennas and it can decrease the operation complexity as well as the system hardware cost as far as possible while also keeping the system performance from being influenced.All though the performance of the algorithms used now are very good,the cost of the radio frequency link and the calculation complexity is high which makes it hard to put the MIMO technology into real practical application.In order to overcome the high comlexity,this paper makes a deeper reseach about antenna selection technology.There are three main new contribution of this paper.First the MIMO communication system is studied,the channel capacity formulas for different kinds of MIMO system are deduced and the comparison of the performance if different algorithms are made.Secondly,on the basis of the analysis of the existing antenna selection algorithm this paper proposed the symmetry capacity maximized low complexity antenna selection algorithm.This algorithm is suitable for symmetrical MIMO communication system:both the number of sending and receiving antennas and the radio frequency link number are the the same or similar to each other.Simulation results show that the performance of symmetry antenna selection algorithm is close to the optimal antenna selection algorithm,and complexity got orders of magnitude lower.Thirdly,this paper also proposed the asymmetric antenna selection algorithm.Asymmetric antenna selection system is suitable for the system of which the number of sending and receiving ends alternative are not equal.This algorithm is a kind of joint antenna selection algorithm,but the calculation method for the receiving end and the sender is not symmetrical which can realize agilely.Simulation results show that the asymmetric antenna selection algorithm of capacity performance is also very close to the optimal algorithm.In the end,the essay summarizes the full text.The analysis of the future for MIMO antenna selection technology research has also been made.
