Multiple input multiple output technique is a great breakthrough in wireless communication system. It can efficiently improve the performance of the system. Antenna selection is the key technique in MIMO system, which selects one or several best antennas from multiple transmitting and receiving antennas. Antenna selection can reduce the expense of hardware and increase the performance-cost-ratio of MIMO system. The achieved capacity of MIMO system is typically dependent on the selection algorithm at the transmitter and receiver.In this thesis, the author refers some ideas. Several kinds of antenna selection algorithms and the channel capacity of different forms of MIMO system are introduced first. The author also presents the simulation results and proposes a new antenna selection algorithm in MIMO system by using the principle of linear algebra. This algorithm is proposed for the correlative nature of the channel in MIMO system. Larger capacity is achieved compared with the existing algorithm in certain conditions. Because it is necessary to consider the channel state information when selecting the antennas, so the author researched the channel state information and presented CSI models using statistical method. The channel capacity formula of MISO system is also derived.
