Research And Realization Of The Router Virtualization Technology

Network Virtualization and Network Function Virtualization technologies have been studied popularly currently,network node virtualization plays a significant role behind these technologies.Router virtualization is a priority as for node virtualization.At present,many router virtualization technology are using existing routing protocol software package or tool for further development,to adapt to virtualized networking requirements,but which not only lead to bad virtualization optimizing efficiency and weak functional expansion,but also rely on the international manufacturers virtualization tools provide.There are many scholars have proposed a programmable virtual router,which depends on the original router development platform,but the versatility is not strong enough.This paper mainly study the several methods of current router virtualization,and descript development of virtualization technology thoroughly.Based on further analysis of the current virtual routers,including the advantages and disadvantages,this paper propose a new type of router virtualization technology.The main idea of this technology is,based on in-depth analysis on the router code,modifying the board support package,the virtual network card drivers,protocol stacks and other code to achieve the router function on a general X86 platform such as computer or server,then people can make further application development.Comparing to traditional virtualized routers based on linux system,virtualized routers utilizing this technology can achieve better efficiency,security and safety.Above all,this technology achieve the university and flexibility of virtualized routers,which provide more flexible space for the function expansion and efficiency optimizing of virtualized router.This technology can not only be used in the development of the virtual router,but also in other areas of network virtualization.Moreover,the technology of virtual router technology combined with openflow technology can be used in more advanced technology field.
