In our country,with the rapid development of Internet,the Internet has become a basic establishment of national important information from educational and scientific research internet.Router as the core equipment,its importance should not be underestimated.Router's main function is to achieve routing and network interconnection in the network.At present,the network data traffic is almost impossible to be predicted,the region that the network customer distribution is more and more broad,the mobile degree is more and more high and the continued enhancement of Internet services.All of these have led to a dramatic increase of data traffic in the network backbone,and these data traffic has already made traditional network equipment work insufficiently,so high speed reuters have become the hot spot for study in recent 2 years.By the next high speed reuters,fast path seek mechanism will be the key aspect that affect its efficiency,especially under the situation that our country has already started the transition step by step from IPv4 to IPv6.This paper does some research on fast path seek mechanism of IPv6 to realize speedy seek.In aspect of OS,we choose the embedded real-time operating system.Because high-performance route need guarantee real time when protocol packet,but embedded operating system can solve this problem well.It not only provides a basis platform for different implementations,but also we can modify and transplant conveniently according to our need because of it's exoteric source code.The paper based on analysis of the structure of the router,select the exchange of multi-processor architecture which is used by a high-performance router,in the choice of high-performance router operating system,in order to achieve a better network and real-time,the use of real-time operating system is embedded.To be able to meet the requirements of high-performance router,by the design of the router backplane structure,more good Crossbar structures is selected.Also the handling ways of the data reported length and blocked problem are selected.Routing table is the important part of route design,to achieve the goal of high-performance router design,I choose the combination of hardware and software.Finding in the hardware, using the CAM parallel to improve the rate.Finding in the software,based on the analysis of various finding ways,the option of using multiple branches of the tree to achieve the goal of improve finding speed.IPv6 will be the core technology in the next generation Internet,so the research and the application of IPv6 router will determine its network development process.In the process of IPv6 router design, different protocols of link layer,network layer,transport layer and application layer are need to be achieved.In this paper,the main topic is research of network layer,IPv6 protocol stack.
