The society has developed rapidly, the floating population has gradually become the main group of new urban population. The social integration of floating population has also become a focus of attention. When migrants enter the city, the first thing they do is to find a place to live. The degree of integration of migrants varies according to housing status. Therefore, this study uses the data of 2014 China Migrants Dynamic Survey.PCA was used to measure the social integration level from four dimensions: behavior, culture, psychology, and identity. This paper systematically explores the influence and mechanism of the migrant population's housing status on his social integration. The main research conclusions of this article are: First, living in rented housing will have a significant negative impact on the social integration of floating population. The results are robust after adding control variables, industry and city dummy variables,or correcting possible sample selection biases with PSM.Second, different types of renting houses will have a significantly different impact on social integration.Market renting has the biggest obstacle, followed by unit renting;policy renting has the smallest obstacle, but the statistics are not significant.Third, living in rented houses has a significant negative impact on the three dimensions of cultural adaptation, psychological identity and identity.Fourth, policy renting has a significant positive impact on the behavioral adaptation dimensions, while it has a significant negative impact on the three dimensions of culture, psychology and identity. Finally, this paper constructs a mediating effect model to explore the impact mechanism: life satisfaction effect, subjective social status effect, and long-term settlement intention effect. The improvement of housing status will help improve the living satisfaction of migrants, increase their subjective social status, strengthen long-term settlement willingness, and then promote the social integration of migrants. The above findings theoretically enrich the research literature in the fields of housing and social integration, and provide practical reference values for the formulation of public policies in practice.
