Peer relationship is an important part of adolescent interpersonal relationship, and it is also an important mission of adolescent social development.Because of living in the school, high school resident students are far away from the family support, and bear the dual pressures of life and schoolwork on their own.Good peer relationships help the resident students to adapt to the school life quickly and promote the improvement of academic performance;otherwise they are difficult to adapt to the school life, unable to concentrate on studying.Perhaps even lead to a bullying incident on campus due to a small misunderstanding of peers;so how to help high school resident students handle peer relationships and successfully adapt to living and studying in the school have attracted close attention from the researchers.Bowen's systemic family therapy theory believes that the mode of interpersonal communication is inseparable from the level of individual self-differentiation.Considering that the high school stage is an important period for the formation of individual self-differentiation,this study will explore the influences of self-differentiation and peer relationship from the high school resident students. This study surveyed 613 students from three resident high schools in Kunming, analyzed the current status of self-differentiation and peer relationships among high school resident students;explored the correlation in self-differentiation and peer relationships among different demographic variables;and designed a group counseling program for self-differentiation to intervene in high school resident students. The following conclusions were reached through this study: 1.The self-differentiation of high school resident students are in the upper middle level. On the specific dimension, the emotional cutoff dimension gets the highest score, shows the positive willingness for interpersonal communication and a low tendency for interpersonal alienation;the score of the emotional reactivity dimension is the lowest, which is prone to emotional fluctuations and extreme emotional performance. The levels of self-differentiation of high school resident students are significantly lower than that of the non-resident students. There are significant differences in the level of arts and sciences, gender, and whether they are the only-child in high school resident students. There are no significant differences in grade, ethnicity, place of residence, and experience of left-behind.2.The peer relationships of high school resident students are in the upper middle level too.On the specific dimension, the close-out dimension shows that they are not to exclude, they have strong willing for communication. The loneliness dimension gets the lowest score. It shows a strong sense of loneliness,so they also have strong willing to have relationship with others. The peer relationships of non-resident students in high school are significantly better than that of the residents. There are significant differences in grade, the level of arts and sciences, gender, and whether they are the only-child.There are no significant differences in ethnicity, place of residence, and experience of left-behind.3.The self-differentiation levels of high school resident students are significantly and positively correlated with peer relationships. The self-differentiation of high school resident students can predict the effect on peer relationships.4.The group counseling of self-differentiation can improve the level of self-differentiation of high school resident students and achieve the effect of promoting peer relationships.
