The process of independence and perfection of adolescent personality, is playing an important role in adolescent growth in which they are ranging from depending on their parents to get rid of them and in the meanwhile becoming mature gradually. Some related research abroad suggest that adolescent and "post-adolescence" undergraduate who want to achieve personal perfection and independence, establish intimacy besides their family, and develop social-emotional, need a process of their original family separation or division psychologically to find a balance between family attachment and self independent. This is called self-differentiation. The research also suggest that the level of self-differentiation has significant impact on the individual's work and daily life, especially in undergraduate,to whom the level of self-differentiation is a predictor of social adjustment and personal development. It's clear that the characteristics of self-differentiation in undergraduate and intervention study in low level of undergraduate self-differentiation is an important study which related to the undergraduate's psychological health and self-development. However, the study related self-differentiation in China is rare. This article based on the related theory at home and aboard, illustrates the status of undergraduate's self-differentiation and discuss the effects on the corresponding group counseling. Firstly, researchers have in-depth interviews to 40 students with social anxiety, realize their level of self-differentiation preliminarily, and summarize the undergraduate's psychological characteristics that have low level self-differentiation. Then researchers make questionnaire survey in the 471 undergraduates, including freshmen and senior students, arts and sciences major. The survey examined the status of undergraduate's self-differentiation. Otherwise, researchers recruited low level self-differentiation students according to the survey, divided the students into experimental group and control group, establish a group counseling program to enhance self-differentiation and make group counseling in the experimental group, finally have statistics analysis the testing scores both experimental group and control group, after group counseling or not. At last, we reached the results as follows:(1) The average level of the undergraduate's self-differentiation is in the normal range, however, the average of Emotional Reactivity is below average 3.5 points, and 38.9% students' level of self-differentiation is still below average.(2) There is significant difference in factor of the I-Position in undergraduate's self-differentiation, male students score is obviously higher than female in the I-Position.(3) Undergraduate's self-differentiation in the total score, Emotional Reactivity and Emotional Cutoff has clearly difference. Involved in the Fusion with Others, though there is no significant difference overall, we found the second grade scored significantly higher than the third grade afterwards.(4) There isn't difference in aspect of hometown (including urban and rural areas), major, love experience to undergraduate's self-differentiation.(5) The group counseling aimed improved the undergraduate's self-differentiation, indicating that the group counseling intervention program in this study is a scientific, practical and effective.
