The development and application of resources in geography curriculum is an important part of the new round of basic education curriculum reform in Chinese characters are created in natural geographical environment and have the characteristics of "one character,one pictograph".Geography is a subject which inseparable from picture.Therefore,Chinese characters,words and geography have the common character of "picture".They can be connected as a kind of geography curriculum resource which always develops and is used.In this paper,the development steps and methods,application principles and strategies used in these geography curriculum resources are deeply discussed.The paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter mainly analyzes the research background and significance of the subject,through a large amount of literature review,summarizes the research status at home and abroad,figure out the core concepts of this paper: Geography curriculum resources from the perspective of Chinese character etymology.Chinese word etymology,Chinese character etymology and word etymology.This paper summarizes the research contents and frameworks,and selects the basic theories and methods to guide the research,in other words,the theory of learning motivation,the theory of memory,the theory of learning transfer and the principles of etymology and philology.The second chapter,mainly discusses the exploit strategy of the curriculum resources and the split-interpretation(radicals of words)method,and then selects some geographical concepts and important geographical names in the geography textbooks of the junior and senior high schools,standing by the geography teaching to carry out the word source,etymology and geographical interpretation,and attach the ancient Chinese characters and geographical images,to develop the middle school geography word source and etymology curriculum resource database.The third chapter discusses the application significance,basic principles and Application Strategies of resource database.Etymology,as curriculum resources,have their own characteristics.They can attract students in teaching,help students understand geographical concepts better,and improve the accuracy of writing Chinese characters.In order to seek effective application principles and strategies,some teaching designs is applied and practiced,which are verified and improved in action.In the fourth chapter,we use the teaching practice method to carry on the empirical research to the development result.After teaching which makes use of the research results in middle school,students and teachers are investigated to analyze the problems exists in practical application and the orientation of follow-up research.Generally speaking,the teachers and students have a good acceptance of the curriculum resources,achieving the expected results,but there are some disputes on the necessity of using it.The fifth chapter is to summarize the conclusions,reflecting on the problems in the research,and looking forward to the orientation and path of the follow-up deeply research.
