Abstract/Summary:
Chinese characters carrying the culture of the Chinese nation, which contain the religion, ethics, science, art and the national culture spirit faithfully. The development of Chinese characters matches thinking characteristics of young children who mainly urge image thinking to abstract thinking transition.Etymology literacy is a teaching method, that is, Chinese characters are taught by tracing its origin and analyzing its structure according to the principle of word-making of Chinese characters. Based on abundant literature, this study uses classroom observation, in-depth interviews and field tests, as well as the origin rules effect produced with children’s thinking system, on the basis of discussion and analysis, formed the following conclusions.Firstly, etymology literacy can make the children’s memory enhancement, especially image memory. In the process of etymology literacy,Children can learn the literacy according to the glyph, back to the modern Chinese characters by the original image, then memory to read and write Chinese characters.Secondly,etymology literacy make thechildren’s observation was promoted. Chinese characters is intuitionistic image features, abstractness and generality and comprehensiveness are its salient features. For learning Chinese characters is a widely observation, carefully identify, abundant association, unceasingly abstract cognitive processes. Etymology literacy, the structure of Chinese characters form comparison and analysis, is conducive to enhance children’s observation to identify ability.Thirdly.etymology literacy promote children’s concrete thinking and abstract thinking. Etymology literacy emphasize "pictures, ancient Chinese, modern Chinese character" of this line of thinking. On the other hand, etymology literacy encourage children to understand the modern Chinese character, pay attention to "recall" ancient Chinese characters, and can exercise young children in the process from abstract thinking to the representational thinking development.
