In the context of the reform of new curriculum and with the further promotion of the education reform,it has been an urgent requirement to improve the teaching methods of physical education which not only make students to better grasp the techniques of their specialties, but also promote the students' all-round development. Therefore it is the responsibility of the teacher to carry out differentiated teaching according to each students' problems. The National Education Congress has given the direction for school physical education development, and General Secretary Xi's thought of "taking the people as the center" also requires teachers to take students as the center in the process of education and teaching.A teaching method suitable for students can not only improve students' technical level, but also help students to cultivate their enthusiasm for learning, thus laying the foundation for the formation of students' lifelong physical education consciousness. The traditional mode of teaching limits the students' creative thinking and enthusiasm to a certain extent, and because of the differences between the students' learning levels, there still exists the problem of some students feeling not have enough materials to learn and some students feeling difficult to understand in the traditional classroom. The stratified progressive teaching method based on teaching students according to their aptitude is applied to intervene the badminton teaching in order to verify its feasibility and advantages through the comparative study between the experimental group and the control group. It aims at providing a theoretical basis for the innovation of teaching badminton, and giving reference for teachers to use this method in other sport class.8 weeks of experiments was carried out between the experimental group and the control group by adopting literature method, expert interview method, questionnaire survey method, teachingexperiment method and mathematical statistics method according to the teaching characteristics of the badminton optional class for the purpose of testing and analyzing whether the stratified progressive teaching method is helpful in the all-round improvement of the students. The results shows that both teaching methods are helpful to improve the students' mastery of badminton special techniques, but after the experiment, the students in the experimental group had higher scores in physical quality, technique, theoretical achievement and learning motivation than those in the control group. The results are as follows:1.Stratified progressive teaching method can promote and improve the students' physical quality in badminton.According to the statistics, the students in the experimental group are doing better in the forward and backward movement as well as left and right movement than those of students in the control group, which indicates that there is significant difference(P<0.05).2.Stratified progressive teaching method can promote the improvement of students' badminton technique.According to the statistics, the experimental group achieves better scores than the control group in four techniques:forehand drive of high and far ball, forehand shot of high and far ball, net front pick ball and forehand drop ball, which indicates that there is significant difference(P<0.05).3.Stratified progressive teaching method can improve and promote the students' mastery of theoretical knowledge of badminton.According to the statistics, the experimental group's theoretical achievements is obviously better than that of the control group, which indicates that there is significant difference(P<0.05).4.Stratified progressive teaching method can promote and improve students' badminton learning motivation. After the experiment, the students in the experimental group get better achievements in learning motivation, learning interest and learning attitude than those in the control group, which indicates that there is significant difference(P<0.05).5.After the experiment, students in the experimental group are doing better in physical quality, special technology, theoretical knowledge, and learning motivation than those of the control group. Therefore,to a certain extent it can be proved that the stratified progressive teaching method is more helpful to the improvement of students in all aspects than the traditional teaching method.
