Nowadays,innovative education is very popular.In such a context,the reform of teaching model has become very critical to contemporary education reform.As a new teaching model,the “flipped classroom” has a great influence on education in recent years.It is a result of combining educational and teaching reforms with applications of today's internet and smart mobile terminals.Meanwhile,it is a revolution in classroom teaching models and technology and causes a significant influence on the 21 st century's education world.It overturns traditional teaching and opens up new possibilities of reform and innovation in basic models of traditional courses.However,there are few studies of applications of the “flipped classroom” in physical education,leading to a lack of complete theoretical basis and precedents for practice.So,what influence will the“flipped classroom”have on physical education?Is the “ flipped classroom ” applicable to physical education? How to apply the“ flipped classroom ” to physical education? Is it feasible to build a flipped classroom-based teaching model really suitable for middle school physical education?Answers to these questions will provide some reference for applying the “flipped classroom ” to physical education.Therefore,this paper is of great value when it comes to practical applications of the “flipped classroom”.In this paper,research methods such as literature review,expert interviews,questionnaire surveys,teaching experiments,comparative analysis and mathematical statistics were used to study applications of the “flipped classroom” in middle school physical education.An experimental group and a control group were set for a middle school physical education course(i.e.Basketball Skills).The flipped classroom-based teaching model(video production – video broadcast – students watch the video –preparations – demonstrate results–communications between students and teachers– student feedback – summaries & reflection)and the traditional teaching model(preparations–the teacher lectures or demonstrates–students do exercises–mistake correction – enhancement & improvement – teaching summaries)were taken as independent variables.Students' physical quality,interest in learning basketball andresults of learning basketball were taken as dependent variables.Teaching experiments were conducted to analyze the effects of the two teaching models and changes in students' physical quality and interest in physical education.This new teaching model and the traditional teaching model were compared to point out their respective advantages and disadvantages and differences between them;verify the feasibility,effectiveness,practical value and effects of the application of the “flipped classroom”in middle school physical education;discover problems of this teaching model in practical teaching;and propose relevant suggestions,in order to provide theoretical basis and practical reference for further promoting the application of “ flipped classroom” in physical education.Conclusions obtained in this study are as follows:(1)There is a significant difference in students' interest in learning basketball between the control group and the experimental group after the teaching experiment.Compared with the traditional teaching model,the flipped classroom-based teaching model can better arouse students' interest in learning basketball and help students develop a habit of self-learning.(2)The application of the flipped classroom-based teaching model in middle school physical education helps students gain a correct understanding of skilled movements.Compared with the traditional teaching model,the flipped classroom-based teaching model can more effectively help students develop normalized movements and master sports skills.(3)The introduction of the flipped classroom-based teaching model into middle school physical education can make the classroom livelier and facilitate interaction between students and teachers,creating a lively atmosphere.As a result,students improve their attitude towards learning,their participation in class and their abilities to discover,analyze and solve problems.Therefore,the flipped classroom-based teaching model is very promising.To better promote and apply the flipped classroom-based teaching model,the following suggestions are put forward:(1)The traditional teaching cannot be totally replaced with the flipped classroom.Instead,the traditional teaching modal and the flipped classroom-based teaching modelshould be used to make up for each other's deficiencies and combined well with each other to improve teaching quality in physical education.(2)The basic theoretical system for applying the flipped classroom-based teaching model to physical education needs to be further improved.Meanwhile,a unified multi-factor physical education teaching assessment & feedback system for the flipped classroom needs to be built step by step to provide theoretical reference and guidance for practical teaching.(3)An authoritative online teaching platform for physical education needs to be built step by step.A universal application system of flipped classroom for physical education also needs to be built to reduce the influence of the quality of third-party teaching platforms on practical teaching.(4)Physical education teachers need to change their role,optimize their knowledge structure and improve their occupational abilities and qualities,in order to keep pace with the ever-changing information era.At the same time,students need to further develop their self-learning skills.
