There is no separate content for mathematical modeling in the current textbooks of ordinary high schools in Henan Province, but the idea of mathematical modeling is infiltrated into the various modules and thematic content in different forms. Can teachers really implement the mathematical modeling content in the textbooks? What is the student's true level of mathematical modeling literacy? What factors will affect students'mathematical modeling level?Based on the above problems, the author investigates and analyzes the status of students' mathematical modeling for a provincial model high school in Henan Province. The content of this research has three aspects:first,Understand students'mathematical modeling level in the school under investigation and analysis;second, based on the literature analysis, explore the factors that affect mathematical modeling using mathematical modeling test questions;Third,Put forward strategies to improve the teaching of mathematical modeling based on the students' actual level of mathematical modeling ability and the problems found in the investigation. The research work is mainly carried out from two aspects:theory and practice. In theory, the author consulted a large number of literature and bibliography related to mathematical modeling to fully understand the research status of mathematical modeling in middle school.Based on a detailed analysis of the literature, the author determined the evaluation method of the mathematical modeling level of the test:Analyze the completion of mathematical modeling by students' answering process to quantify the points, and use a three-level division model to divide students' mathematical modeling ability into three levels according to test scores from low to high.In practice, the author first prepared mathematical modeling test questions and tested the students. The prepared test questions cover the three major knowledge sections of the high school stage and involve different problem situations.Using SPSS20.0 and related software to analyze the test results of the students,The conclusions are as follows:(1)The distribution of students' mathematics modeling results is left-skewed.The current students' mathematics modeling ability is concentrated at the intermediate level.Nearly 90%of students' mathematics modeling literacy needs further improvement;(2)There is no statistically significant gender difference and class difference in students' mathematical modeling ability;(3)Students in the mathematical modeling process perform well in the application of the two major knowledge sections of function and geometry, and students' awareness of the application of probability knowledge is weak;(4)Faced with complex problem situations, students lack interest in modeling and sense of inquiry, and generally find it difficult to mathematicalize situational problems;(5)Mathematics scores and physics scores are significantly positively correlated with the mathematics modeling test scores, and the degree of correlation is low.Secondly,a questionnaire for teachers was compiled to understand the difficulties encountered by teachers in the teaching of mathematical modeling and teachers'awareness of mathematical modeling. Finally, combining the relevant conclusions drawn by students' mathematical modeling tests and the responses of teachers' questionnaires, the author gives some mathematical modeling teaching suggestions.
