With the development of the times, mathematics occupies an irreplaceable position in the fields of science and technology, finance, education, etc.Mathematical modelling as a mathematical method to solve practical problems is the first step, which needs the attention of mathematics educators. At present, mathematics education has problems with the theory being separated from reality in primary and secondary schools in China, and students lack application consciousness. This paper aims to extract the influencing factors of junior high school students' modelling ability and propose a scientific and effective teaching strategy to cultivate the mathematical modelling ability of junior high school students. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduces the background of research problems, research status at home and abroad, research content, research methods, etc. The second chapter mainly introduces the related overview of mathematical modelling and modelling teaching, and summarizes elementary models and methods commonly used in junior high school mathematics modelling;Chapters 3,4 and 5 are the core chapters of this paper. The third chapter studies the influencing factors of mathematical modelling of junior high school students.Based on the previous literature research and the related research in this paper, using some methods like literature research, investigation research, observation and interview. It is concluded that the factors affecting the modelling of junior high school students are mainly from students, teachers and classrooms. In term of students: motivation and attitude are the driving force of modelling, mathematical reading ability, mathematical knowledge and related experience are the basis of modelling, problem expression ability and problem-solving strategy are the keys to modelling, and metacognitive ability is the regulation of modelling. In terms of teachers: the role of teachers in the classroom and the way teachers evaluate students.Besides, some in-class factors like cooperation and exchange between students, and cooperation and communication betweenteachers and students also influence students' modelling ability. The fourth chapter put forward some teaching strategies which is based on the influencing factors mentioned above. As for the student, they need to develop their mathematics reading ability, problem representation ability, metacognitive ability, and problem model category generalization ability. As for the teacher, they need to shift their role and adopt multi-dimensional,diversified and diversified evaluation methods; As for in-class reaction, students are encouraged to independently thinking while teachers are encouraged to conduct some group interaction discussion and teacher-led reflection. In the fifth chapter, two mathematical modelling cases are developed based on the influencing factors and teaching strategies. The two cases fully show the whole process of mathematical modelling and fully cultivate students' modelling ability. One is the modelling case in daily mathematics teaching. The content of the lecture is linear inequality with one unknown and linear function; The other is a mathematical modelling extracurricular activity based on the content of the textbook. The content of the lecture is “The Measurement of the Building Height”.Chapter 6 introduces the research summary, reflection and prospect of this paper.
